Beyoncé's Lemonade Released

On April 23, 2016, Beyoncé released "Lemonade," a visual album that debuted as an HBO special. The work drew on the poetry of Warsan Shire and explored Black womanhood, Southern heritage, and personal pain. It was widely hailed as one of the most important artistic statements of the decade.

On April 23, 1884, Granville T. Woods patented the railway telegraph, enabling moving trains to communicate with stations. His inventions significantly improved railway safety. Thomas Edison challenged his patent rights but lost, and Woods went on to hold over 60 patents.
