This Day in Black History

This Day in Black History is a simple daily email and growing historical archive dedicated to the people, moments, and movements that shaped the Black experience.

Each edition highlights one carefully researched moment tied to that date — delivered to your inbox every morning in a format that is short, clear, and meaningful.

The goal is straightforward: make Black history easier to discover, remember, and share.

Our Story

Black history is American history — and too much of it goes untold.

Textbooks often skim the surface. Social media moves too fast. We wanted something quieter, more consistent, and more substantive: one deliberate historical moment each day, presented in a way that can stand on its own.

This project did not begin as a media company or a nonprofit. It started as a personal effort by someone who wanted to learn more and believed others might as well. Over time, it became a daily habit — and then a resource meant to be shared.

Every fact is sourced. Every date is chosen intentionally. Every email is written to be complete and understandable without requiring additional context.

What You'll Receive

Subscribers receive:

These moments may include births, court decisions, protests, cultural achievements, political milestones, breakthroughs in science or education, and many other events that shaped lives and communities across generations.

The Archive

Beyond the daily email, the full archive is always open.

Readers can browse by date, search by name, explore by category, or follow a timeline of events across centuries. Each entry includes links to original sources so that anyone who wants to go deeper can do so.

Over time, the archive is intended to grow into a lasting historical resource — not just a newsletter, but a place to return to, study from, and share.

Who It's For

This Day in Black History is for anyone who wants to learn more — students, teachers, parents, professionals, history enthusiasts, and curious readers of all backgrounds.

It is built for those who value clarity, consistency, and respect for the historical record, and who believe that understanding the past is essential to understanding the present.
