Bobby Seale Born

Born October 22, 1936, Bobby Seale co-founded the Black Panther Party with Huey Newton in 1966. He wrote the party's Ten-Point Platform and co-created the free breakfast program that served thousands of children. He was one of the Chicago Eight defendants tried for conspiracy.

Tyler Perry Opens Largest Film Studio in U.S.

On October 5, 2019, Tyler Perry opened his 330-acre studio complex on the former Fort McPherson army base in Atlanta. It is the largest film production studio in the country, with 12 soundstages named after pioneering Black entertainers including Oprah Winfrey, Denzel Washington, and Cicely Tyson.
