Mary McLeod Bethune Founds Bethune-Cookman College

Mary McLeod Bethune founded the Daytona Normal and Industrial Institute for Negro Girls on October 3, 1904. The school eventually merged with Cookman Institute to become Bethune-Cookman College, one of the nation's premier historically Black colleges.
