Eleanor Roosevelt Resigns from DAR

In February 1939, Eleanor Roosevelt publicly resigned from the DAR after they barred Marian Anderson from performing at Constitution Hall because of her race. Roosevelt then helped arrange Anderson's legendary concert at the Lincoln Memorial, attended by 75,000 people.
