Dorothy Height Born

Born March 24, 1912, Height served as president of the National Council of Negro Women for 40 years. She was on the platform during the 1963 March on Washington and worked alongside major civil rights leaders throughout her career.

Halle Berry Wins Best Actress Oscar

On March 24, 2002, Halle Berry won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in "Monster's Ball." In her emotional acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to "every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened."
