Madam C.J. Walker Addresses National Negro Business League

In August 1912, Madam C.J. Walker addressed the National Negro Business League, famously declaring: "I am a woman who came from the cotton fields of the South. From there I was promoted to the washtub... and from there I promoted myself into the business of manufacturing hair goods." She built a multimillion-dollar empire.
