Ella Baker Born

Born December 13, 1903, Ella Baker worked with the NAACP, SCLC, and SNCC. She organized the founding conference of SNCC in 1960 and mentored young leaders including Diane Nash, John Lewis, and Stokely Carmichael. She believed in grassroots organizing and empowering local leadership.
