Katherine Johnson Born

Born August 26, 1918, Katherine Johnson calculated trajectories for the Mercury and Apollo programs. John Glenn specifically requested that she verify electronic computer calculations before his orbital flight. Her story was told in the book and film "Hidden Figures."
