Pelé Born

Born October 23, 1940, Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pelé) scored over 1,000 career goals and won three FIFA World Cups with Brazil. As a Black athlete from poverty, he became one of the most famous people in the world and used his platform to advocate against racism in sports.
