Josephine Baker Refuses to Perform for Segregated Audiences

In 1951, Josephine Baker embarked on a tour of the United States and refused to perform for segregated audiences. She insisted that her contracts include a non-discrimination clause. She was credited with helping to integrate clubs and theaters in Las Vegas, Miami, and other cities.
