Aimé Césaire Born

Born June 26, 1913, Aimé Césaire was a seminal figure in francophone literature and anti-colonial thought. His long poem "Cahier d'un retour au pays natal" (1939) and his essay "Discourse on Colonialism" (1950) influenced liberation movements across Africa and the Caribbean.
