West Virginia State College v. Brewster
On June 5, 1950, the Supreme Court ruled in Sweatt v. Painter that the separate law school Texas had created for Black students was inadequate. The decision was an important step toward overturning "separate but equal" and paved the way for Brown v. Board of Education.
