Rembrandt Peale Paints Absalom Jones

Born November 7, 1746, Absalom Jones founded the Free African Society with Richard Allen in 1787 and established St. Thomas' African Episcopal Church in Philadelphia in 1794. He was ordained as the first Black Episcopal priest in 1802.
