Berry Gordy Founds Motown Records

On January 12, 1959, Berry Gordy launched Tamla Records (later Motown) with an $800 loan. Motown produced hit after hit with artists like Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and The Temptations, creating the "Sound of Young America."
