Montgomery Bus Boycott Ends

On December 20, 1956, the Montgomery Bus Boycott officially ended after the Supreme Court affirmed a lower court ruling that bus segregation violated the 14th Amendment. The boycott launched Martin Luther King Jr. to national prominence.
