Charles White Born

Born April 2, 1918, Charles White created monumental works celebrating African American history and identity. His murals and drawings appear in the Whitney Museum, MoMA, and the Smithsonian. His 1943 mural "The Contribution of the Negro to Democracy in America" is a landmark of American art.
