Haiti Founded as Republic

On February 5, 1994, Byron De La Beckwith was convicted of the 1963 murder of NAACP field secretary Medgar Evers after two earlier trials had resulted in hung juries. The conviction demonstrated that justice, however delayed, could still be achieved.
