Trayvon Martin Killed in Sanford, Florida

On February 26, 2012, Trayvon Martin was shot and killed while walking home from a convenience store in Sanford, Florida. His death and the initial failure to charge George Zimmerman ignited nationwide protests and became a catalyst for the Black Lives Matter movement after Zimmerman was acquitted in 2013.

Fats Domino Born

Born February 26, 1928, Antoine "Fats" Domino sold over 65 million records. His New Orleans rhythm and blues style was foundational to rock and roll. His hit "Blueberry Hill" (1956) became one of the best-selling singles of all time.
