First Pan-African Congress

In February 1919, W.E.B. Du Bois organized the First Pan-African Congress in Paris, coinciding with the Paris Peace Conference. Delegates from 15 countries discussed self-determination for African colonies. The congress laid the groundwork for future Pan-African movements and African independence.
