Oscar Micheaux Born

Born January 2, 1884, Oscar Micheaux produced, directed, and wrote over 40 films between 1919 and 1948. Working independently, he created an alternative Black cinema that challenged Hollywood stereotypes and addressed issues facing African Americans.
