Augusta Savage Commissioned for World's Fair

In 1939, Augusta Savage created "The Harp," a 16-foot sculpture inspired by James Weldon Johnson's "Lift Every Voice and Sing," for the World's Fair. It was one of the most popular exhibits. Tragically, due to lack of funds, the sculpture was destroyed after the fair.
